Like no other, the universal artist Robert Schumann knew how to merge music and literature into a single entity. The CD "Mondnacht" is sounding proof of this. The combination of Schumann's music with Eichendorff's poems to form the Liederkreis op. 39 is regarded as the epitome of Romanticism par excellence. Chamisso's cycle of poems "Frauenliebe und Leben" is elevated to a highly emotional, personal level by Schumann's settings.
